What a Beautiful Sunny Weekend!!!

Wow! what a blast. With the most gorgeous weather at one of the best cities in the world and making an experience at the most exciting historical event, it can't get any better. It felt like I won an Olympic Gold myself after all the collection of gifts I/we received in just one weekend. If life could be like this in reality....

Ok, let me back up here.... as we were heading to that most awaited sunny weekend, I was retrieving my messages when I heard by surprise that I just won two Hockey Tickets for the Olympic's Hockey Game. Now, this is not the Canadian Hockey team playing but to be there and feel the atmosphere? I cannot let that pass. Not only was I able to get the weekend games but to our surprise-- again, we got the ExecutiveSuite level. How generous is that for a Volunteer! You get the chance to sit around and socialize while relaxing on the leather seats and having your own washroom and your food served if you choose? My honey was so thrilled and grateful that he decided to come with me and I'm so happy to see that he was actually enjoying his own Olympic experience. To watch people of each team was another story and it was a lot of fun to be cheering with them and listen live to that Hockey signature sound for every goal that was made. Our evening of fun was just starting and I think we had the longest walk we made for a long time in one day. I will be posting more pics to share with you. All in all, I think we walked the whole city of Vancouver starting from the Skytrain in Burrard, on to the Westin Bayshore along the Coal Harbour along with the mob of people trying to get a peek of the Cauldrons with the Olympic Flame on top of the Convention Centre; around West Georgia towards the GM Place and from there, shoving elbows with the crowd on our way out to Yaletown, just to find ourselves falling in line to get thru one of the most famous Pubs at Mainland street, the Yaletown Brewing Co.; proceeding to the busiest area of Robson square and Granville and back to the Skytrain at Waterfront. Whew! As to the gifts, among the few I recieved were:

  1. A beautiful blue Swatch wristwatch to match our Volunteer Uniform;

  2. Another 2 tickets for the Sunday's Victory Ceremony at BC Place, with Trooper & Loverboy performing;

  3. A weekend in Victoria at the Comfort Inn & Suites, which my lovely co-workers and bosses gave me as a farewell gift, among other things;

  4. A beautiful handmade medal as an appreciation of VANOC to all the Volunteers who made this Olympic Event a special one for the country;

  5. Another handshake with Mr. John Furlong, while he was paying us a visit at the Westin VANOC desk;

  6. And last but not the least, thank you to my sister-in-law for the surprise be-lated Wedding gift during a very short visit in Langley, in between our weekend: my favorite Novaform Memory foam pillows which we can't wait to use tonight!
