Day One - Opening Ceremony

Yes, those are real tickets - complementary tickets, with a special labeled bottle of wine, to witness the Opening Ceremony on the 12th of Feb at BC Place and also, a tribute to all the Volunteers of the Olympics. Having VANOC's Chief Executive John Furlong with Premier Gordon Campbell and Prime Minister Stephen Harper on stage live, addressing all the Volunteers on that very memorable, touching evening, was such an Honor and Pride I would like to share with you tonight. I don't want to sound egotistical, but I feel so fortunate that I was one of those lucky ones to contribute to this important event of the country where I took oath of another Citizenship just last year to become a good Citizen of Canada. So for your viewing pleasure, let me take you to that very important evening which caused a major buzz in the world. The evening was introduced by famous hosts Ben Mulroney and Tamara Taggart with an energetic performance by Julie Black and the Canadian Tenors.
The Grand Entrance
Close look at the Skier
The Pop Rendition of the National Anthem by Nikki Yanofsky, which caused rage from a lot of Canadians. But as our Dance Instructor from KP would usually say whenever we held a big show: "CAN YOU DO THAT?"
The Olympic Flag Parade held by famous actor, Mr. Donald Sutherland, who also was the "voice" behind the narration of the Canadian history on the show.
The famous Totem Poles which were and still are victims of such innocence among us.
Closer look at the Celebration of the Rise of the Totem Poles.
"Bang the Drum" by Nelly Furtado and Bryan Adams, among the Canadian celebrities who opened the ceremony. KD Lang was one of the famous ones who won cheers from the crowd with HER beutiful version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah.
Sarah McLachlan, another Canadian singer famous for her soulful voice with her piano and accompanied by the Alberta Ballet who danced holographic images of nature - amazing!!!

Among the most beautiful colors I've seen on live shows-- I felt like I was watching AVATAR again as they changed colors, designs and movements. Spectacular!!!!!!!
Another one of those changes....notice the designs on the poles.
Another one of those spectacular numbers at the show.
Yes, and they skid!
The beautiful display of the City of Vancouver.
The rocky mountains and among others that just blown us away. Among my favorites  were the whales shown swimming on the floors while sprinkling water up above. How did they do it? I have to do a research on that. Must have something to do with the holographic effects.

And here, ladies and gentlemen, the famous cauldrons at the show with their total elegance and shine. And despite a technical failure and the heavy rain outside, the show still went on with The Great One lighting up the public Cauldrons out by the Waterfront.
THE END.
