Hello September morn.....farewell August!

Happy Anniversary!!!
Yup! It's our third year tomorrow...
Time flies!
Funny thing is, we thought we knew each other way more than three years. We'll make it simple ok honey? We've got two more to celebrate this month so wait for that one. For now, let me divert you folks to our new month.
Since summer has been fading so fast, our garden has been looking like this....
And my craft room like this....

Been busy here and my honey couldn't beleive how clear I got it! Sorry hon but this will be a messy craft room again in just a few days. I wanted to get things ready for school tomorrow and I felt I was already behind when I saw a posting from Shimelle today of some of the ladies's albums for this class. So today I finally managed to finish the cover of an old book I bought from the Thrift Store last year and filled it with Basic Grey papers and even the title of the book inside! Can you beleive it? Tomorrow is the first day and I can't wait! I even managed to record a video clip but I guess it's too late for Shimelle to have it. So we'll save it for another rainy day. Until tomorrow folks....

Last hot sunny day: prediction

Watching the forecast has become a daily morning routine for the majority or most specifically part of our 2 cups of wake-up coffee. As soon as Dr. Mark Madriga tells his forecast, that sets the day for us- whether we make the most of it would most likely depend on what kind of weather we're heading to. Today was supposed to be the last warmest day we'd get out of summer. My honey and I would have been thinking of lounging after work with the heat of the sun beating our faces and cold beers in our hands. It would have been the last day for that so we'd set our hearts on doing so. It wasn't the case though. We were both hard on work; did't have any solid food in my system till about 4pm. Clients after clients until finally, it was time to close the shop. For some reason, I still had energy left to entertain guests waiting for me at home. Glad to be there for them to spend some time and lend some ears and support and comfort. Glad to have done it when it's wanted and needed. Glad to have done it to people I care about and not because they are clients and because it's part of the job. Glad to see smiles on their faces as they leave our place. Glad to have that kind of feeling of appreciation with the little things you can do for others. My honey has fallen asleep and I'm ready for bed. I guess the heat is finally over. It may not have turned out how we thought of enjoying it but glad to have that one day spent again with joy. Till tomorrow folks. Nighty night.

Sunday Walk .....

****
Cooler weather didn't stop my honey from dragging us to the estuary today.
As we walked along, we started feeling the heat.
Despite her age, mom braved it and took the road less taken....
Such a beautiful sunny day. Only a few of those and we'll be seeing the leaves falling soon and the weather cooling down. So make the most of each bright sun. Get out and enjoy!

Signs and Switches

I can see signs of fall everywhere lately....
thru these clouds getting darker and darker since Thursday....
cravings for "hot and sour soup".....
The Saigon Garden, Vietnamese Restaurant in Parksville is one of our pride here in town. If you are grabbing a quick lunch, it's a go-to-place but you have to be there before noon to avoid the crowd. It fills up fast for office workers and families alike. Dinner is usually early since they close as early as 7pm. They have the best soup, "sweet and sour" with lemon grass which you can get in "combo" or "prawns" with vermicelli, my favorite.
back to school, back to Learning New Things, like this one....
with Shimelle, all is new. She's been teaching on-line classes for years but I joined this one just last year. I am aiming to finish this book and hope to do a daily post here this September. The transition from sunny days to this cloudy weather would do me good with an inspirational class like this. Come and join us, I promise you nothing but FUN and inspiration.

and I'm excited about this new class too....
with Cathy Zeilske, another one of my fave instructors and my first this year on this class, ME-The Abridged Version. And because September is a special month, it's my special gift to myself.....I can hear myself singing September morn, dadadadada.....is a brand new day....lalalalalalalala......and everytime, for the last three years, at least a week before it starts, I get into a panicky mode, filled with excitement, less sleep like right now, I've been up since 4 this morning. Can you tell?
....in romantic way, September morning makes me feel that way.....bec this one is our
                                THIRD YR. ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, I didn't mean to scream at you but can you feel the energy? And his birthday too, my honey! hmm.....

good endings.... remember the Beach Fest? the summer heat?
It's officially over-
for the fest, and last night was the 2nd weekend that we had a display of fireworks to say farewell...
new beginnings.....
here's me, right now, looking like this, 5 days a week, 6 hours a day every single day: putting a smile in front of everybody else; sometimes you can call it just playing my role at work but I'd like to think it's genuine for the most part. Changes? not much. Ageing? it's getting there and another year is almost over again. All I want to start this new month? A really good stylish haircut, relaxing facial, pedicure and manicure. Guess Who? What? Where?...today....

Who drives a motorbike and looks like he's from a Charlie's Angels gang almost?
What was he doing very early this morning on the Island instead of being at work?
Recognize him?
Look closer... it's not Mylee-rae Syrus' Dad! Hair's shorter and face cleaner.
It's big brother Garty in the house! He made it!
Rewind.... Gary is my honey's big bro who prepared him his breaky when he was a baby and who claimed my honey his own baby when they were at very young age.
He was the one who helped me keep my sanity and was there in an instant when my honey needed him most.
He's so unpredictable and always loves to visit us by surprise whenever he can.
It's always a pleasure to see him visit the small family on the Island.
He looked like Mylee Rae Syrus' dad at some point and made a young pretty girl a happy soul and proud to have met him as the very first star she met ever. (and we'll leave it at that!)
Thanks Gar for seeing us again today.
-Short but sweet-

Beat the Heat

Some hot summer day!
As soon as my honey gets back from work, all he longs for is soak himself in cold water.
Not the sprinkle or shower this time though. He finally convinced me to get my butt off the couch and lay in the sand, and swim at the beach right at the very heart of Parksville, just a walk away from our place....

till another hot summer day

Part 2 of the Sunday Surprise...

One of the most famous frequented beaches here on the Island by locals and tourists.
What fascinates me most is the vast sand along the shore. You may feel far from the land but the water still stays below your knee. Because of this, a lot of families with children would prefer to spend the day here than other beaches although it is also an easy access to any resorts on the Island of Parksville.

Counting the days of summer, 2010...

Can't beleive that we're halfway already. The heat is still on! Unbelievable for a month of August and we haven't harvested any single tomatoe because they all seem not ripe. On the other hand, the smoke is still covering the sky here on the Island. But that doesn't stop us from enjoying what's left for us to sweat the heat. We may not have done any distant travels this year, we still have the nearby places to join the rest of the tourists travelling here with their motor homes. So today was another one surprise day from my honey.
So off we went after a short visit by mom this morning....
We sat and ate our burgers there then took more photos, this time with a tripod!...
***despite the cold water, my honey braved the river for a short swim.***

Until tomorrow for the part 2 of this Sunday's surprise! Have a great week everyone.
