How about those Canucks?

I often hear my honey says this comment as a joke. I'm not even sure what it means when the topic has nothing to do with hockey or the Canucks in particular. Being a Filipina around a man with a dry sense of humour, there's a lot to learn on "humour etiquette": when and when not to laugh is number one. Well, last night's game was not any joke. The morning news today showed sad faces and none of the cheering crowd downtown Vancouver as they showed everywhere from their winning game. Viewers had different opinions as to why it happened that way but to those who watched the game and who fully understand a true Canadian heart, like my honey, there's another day. They just lost this one game, for goodness' sake. Give them a break!

Anyhow, aside from the sense of humour, there are terminologies that I still cannot fathom. That encyclopedia set I showed here yesterday should come in handy but because I only have a few minutes, and I'm on Blogpress ( who knows where this post is going?), I will have to invent my own interpretation based on the words: High Angle. That's the phot of the day and if you my dear friends, know or have better interpretation, please leave me a comment. I would highly appreciate it and will also give you a full credit if you send me your blog's url, deal?

For no further ado, here are my photos for today's assignment. I took them yesterday while taking a walk and sunny. You won't believe how gloomy it is now.

These guys are some main attraction in the summer. If you love street market, please come and visit Parksville. By then, their hair has fully grown :)....

And this is right beside it: the new Petal and Kettle. It has changed since I saw Karen, the owner the first day she opened the shop. She is doing a great job with her displays which I silently took a picture of while she's at the back.

Watch out when you suspect an Asian look-alike being sneaky. You just might be right getting caught on tape. Have a fun Tuesday!

Sunday Fun in the Garden

It's still a sunny Monday down here on the Island,
and just enjoying every moment.
Yesterday was dirt day for all, including mom.
Thank you mom for starting it for us.
It was a very productive Sunday and both my honey and I can't help but look outside,
breath the fresh air and just enjoy the finished product of all that hardwork.
There's indeed nothing like having something growing to take care of.
Except for a few tiny living things I found throughout the day...
Poor guy got trapped on the deck. After a few shots, my honey freed him right away. Hope he lived.

Then we had our quick breakfast after having our morning fresh brewed coffee with mom.
Normally, on a Sunday, my honey takes his chef throne and make either his famous flavoured pancakes,
with blueberries or waffles complete with fruits, bacon and sauces.
This Sunday is one exemption because after the game on Saturday night,
finishing a bagful of chips and beers, who needs a full breakfast!?
By the way, it's Hockey tonight! And they are in Boston!!! Go Canucks Go!!!!
Did you know that KARMA makes this brand now? Pretty good...
So off we went to today's job: weeding (thanks mom, again for getting it started).
Or we wouldn't have done the fence.
And because of this new family, I kinda forced my honey to put this fence temporarily or,
all greens will be devoured from this whole garden!
By the way, I just took this photo as of this writing. I was on my way to upload
photos I don't have here upstairs, when I saw these 3 at the front door!
Invasion of privacy, totally!!!!
I would rather have this little guy invading the whole garden. Aside from being cute, he works so hard.
In fact, I found him a playmate on the other side this morning....

I'm not sure about this one but they seem to come around esp late in the afternoon.....
Oh well, that ends my greenery pasture story, whatever that means. It just rhymes....
Speaking of rhymes, here's an old dictionary I took this morning for Day6: BOOKS.
See my IPad in the background? That's actually my "book" for this era.

Happy reading!

What a beautiful sunny day!

Yes indeed! And work was half an hour late so I managed to do a few things in the morning to enjoy this lovely day. Have you felt the summer heat? I could tell from people in town how much they can't wait to enjoy the summer: most I've seen were wearing their beach shorts and tiny summer dresses with flip-flops. I could smell the sunscreen from a few feet away and the sky was just as clear as blue!

Meet the first bloom of our tomatoes. Aren't they happy like Mr. Sun?

For this year, we planted nine pots altogether and various types. Mmmm, can't wait.

Still no luck with fluffy clouds but I hang clothes to dry outside. Yay!

Do you see what I see?

Yesterday, the sky was full of fluffy clouds like these around midday....

And today's assignment is cloud, I still had no luck at midday. Oh well....
Who is following the Stanley Cup playoffs? Wooo hooo! They did it again!
So after the stress and excitement of the game tonight, thought I'd check back out. The sun was just setting and still no fluffy clouds. But it's spread all over the sky and it was beautiful still with it's own shape and form.

I wish it's all like that everyday. Oh well, time for bed so I will leave you with my "hand" photo for day 3 to say, sweet dreams and keep love alive like the sky...

June2: Favorite Shoes

Fave shoes? Top choice! Mini mini miny moe..... Hmmm.....
Honestly, I don' t know any girl who doesn't collect a closetful of shoes. Wanna see mine? I still have shoes with tags on which I bought about two years ago, never been used! Ever thought of a day when you shopped for something important and ended up with two bagfulls of pairs of shoes? I never thought of it in my lifetime but it did happen! First time I heard of this big sale @ Army and Navy that a lot of women in all ages line up for first thing in the morning. Big sale meaning very low prices and you can even get Designer's ones! You are lucky to find a nice pair if you are size 7 like me which I find that the majority are. If my memory serves me right, I think they opened at 7 am sharp for this Annual BIG Event. You have to be fast to grab all that you find attractive to you, hold on to them really tight, until you try and find that they're half size smaller. Yeah, I know, you may find your size held so closed by someone, follow her, with the hope that she'd let go of it eventually but, nah, forget it. Before you know it, your two carts are full, there's long line up at the till, wondering if you can make it to work @ nine! I had to make that phone call that day because I was running late or totally give up the hardwork which I wouldn't trade for anything. I paid, I carried those two bagfulls, I was proud of myself, giggling with my girlfriend on our way out. I enjoyed most of the summer wearing my new flat fancy sandals for two summers at least and I still have them kept in good condition. As for the heels, those were left with the tags on. Over the time, I realized that there are certain shoes that hurt my back majorly so I can't wear anything anymore, esp. flat ones. I gave up a few of my favorite ones to friends and families except for one pair that I can never part with for sure. They were too pricey when I got them years ago and I just love their simplicity and height. I keep them in a very special place. I am so happy that they are back in style. So for this project, I chose my wedges.

Not sure how high they are, but they definitely give me extra height. Anyhow, hope you are having fun with this June project. My purple polish is saying goodnight.

Sweet dreams you all. Till tomorrow when my hands wave hello to you and you!

Photo Fun In June and Hockey tonight!

Hello again. How was your first day in June so far? For all the Canucks fans in Canada, I can tell that it's a good day after all! After a 0-0 fight (mostly physical of  "pushy, shovey, glovey, facey", as Brent Butt tweeted) against Boston, humble lucky 13 Torres scored the one and only goal closed to end of Game 3. Way to start the series and to end a really tough game tonight! For those who don't know yet, I've never been this glued to any hockey games as I have since the start of this year's playoffs. For one, I haven't seen as consistent players as this team in my eight years here in Canada. Anyhow, just thought I'd share a bit of my other interest with you. Another excitement of watching the game is having an Ipad which shares your posts in an instant on facebook. Oh, yeah, I multi-task and very good at it. I even follow this talk of the town BBonCanucks from Tweetdeck. For those who are missing this Canadian series from back East, Corner Gas, creator Mr. Brent Butt tweets about the game while it's on. A better way to follow the game with good humour.

On the other side of the fence, I finally decided that I'd join this little project called Photo Fun in June.

Because I love taking pictures with any kind of media for fun, this will be a fun project that hopefully you'd love to try yourself. So for today's photo, as much as I don't like posting my portrait on my blog, (I have a million of them), here's MOI!

We'll go backwards from my last attempt.... while watching the hockey tonight.

Yes, that's my new bff, my Ipad. I should give her a special name. Hmmmm...
Then, after a few shots after work yesterday before helping in the garden....

I also love taking photos of shadows of myself, or anything!

So which one should I pick? Anyhow, today is also my first attempt to post thru this app I downloaded from Itunes, Blogpress. Let's see how this goes through....
Until tomorrow's Photo Fun in June... Go Canucks Go!

HellO JUNE!

Hello Mr. Sunshine! We love it when you are shining.
We bloom so much this year that our shadows give so much happiness to everyone.....
Hello to my purple blooms. You turn the sky so blue....
And even at sundown, you still give me the hope for a beautiful summer the next day.
So what make you smile this month of June?
Summer is coming for one, a honeymoon somewhere romantic maybe?
Or a tan and a good book while you lounge the whole day under the sun?
Whatever you are doing or planning to do,
here's wishing you a beautiful month in June.
Enjoy till it lasts....

Cheers!

Sunday, May 29

Hello Monday!

How's everybody's weekend? I heard that it's a long weekend in some part of your world
so I hope you are making the most of it so far. I have loads of photos to share-again!
This is our Sunday walk since the weather was so nice, sun was just right.
My honey took me to Beachcomber where he used to dive when he was single.
For those of you who love marinas, this place is along Schooner Cove Marina.
For no further ado, let me take you for an adventure....

We saw a team of divers just on their way to Moorecroft. Naturally, my honey would do some socializing while I take more pictures of myself ;)....
We drove away to Marina Drive and found this trail: it was a long, windy, hilly walk.....
 There's nothing like nature's beauty....
We decided to go ahead and take another trail to the campsite....
After the muddy trail, we went back and took another turn, and this beauty was what awaited us!
So beautiful, relaxing that I decided to stay and take my shoes off,
enjoy the splash of water against my new polished nails.
Aaaah! that was my kind of Sunday.
Hope you enjoyed the walk with me. Till next time.....
(If you still want to see more photos, I will be loading my Flickr with lots!)

Say hello to my spring blossoms!

I must admit: having lots of gadgets can do wonders if you make full use of them.
Although we do live in a changing world.....
You'd think you have the latest, most up to date gadget you can find in the market.
Next thing you know, your neighbor just got one from today's release!
I don't own an IPhone for that reason, but I do have the first IPad.
I don't have the huge, gadgety camera about the size of my arm, but I do have my good ol' Nikon.
I don't have Photoshop on the computer, but I do have Photoshop Express, free app.
And I keep my Instagram, free app up to date on my IPad.
I also use my Blackberry Tour as a camera when I don't carry my Nikon.
I read lots about photography, not to mention attend free on-line workshops!
Put them all together, and you have beautiful photos like these
to post on Flickr, Facebook or your own Blog.
I guess that's how I'll get by for now. To bear with my own gadgets,
be happy with the results, to share them with you,
and hope they bring you sunshine.
Happy Weekend!
