A happy Sunday to you. I hope you are all well and enjoying whatever you are doing, Be it housework, Catching up on friends, or simply Doing nothing on a lazy Sunday! Almost Every Canadian Family may be busy in their kitchen, preparing for turkey dinner today. Good timing to stay indoors on a weekend of cool, cloudy weather and spend quality time with families and friends. I can hear Happy laughters filling the dirty kitchen with the cling of wine glasses now and again. As small as our family can be, mom and my honey could fill this whole kitchen while I take records of every moment of this important event. Just as soon as they start cleaning the turkey, I make sure I don't miss anything. The Kitchen sink seems smaller when each of us would want to Lend a hand with the preparation. This turkey ceremony is getting More and more sacred as years go by. No event is quite like it and we all look forward to it.... Once the big bird gets in to its slumber, and all trimmings Prepared, we get to relax with mom telling us more stories of the past. We heard lots of it many a time but it's always a treat to have her take the Queen's seat as we behave like her loyal audience. Right in the middle, she'd get my honey check on the turkey but once in a while, I'd fill in and do the glazing myself. This is the only food I've had that gets So much love and care from the time it arrives home from the grocery store to the Time it's in the oven! It's a story that I would tell with fond memories, Unforgettable series of turkey events. After 3 or more hours of slow cooking and resting, depends on the weight, the kitchen gets filled up again. This is when my honey pulls out the mixer we hardly eVer use to make their traditional mashed creamy potatoes while mom and I do the gravy and steamed veggies. We all get busy, noisy, funny and this must be Why Thanksgiving is such an eXtra special event in our lives now. We love every minute of it: we enjoy the sound, the smell, the drinks, the food, the stories, us together, full and merrY. The kitchen may look like a Zoo but we manage to keep it tidy for the next day's morning coffee. Just the three of us and that's how we spend most of our Turkey dinner every year. I am so grateful and fortunate and to have a day like this in a year. Thank you mom and honey ko and to all of you, happy Thanksgiving! Hope yours is full of shared fond memories....
