Sunny Tuesday-Day Two of JYC

It was that sunny today, you can even see my whole shadow here from my lunchbreak. It was still cold and windy though, about 5'c and we are expecting snow very soon - maybe... My colleague, Maddi's first day at work from a month of vacation in Arizona too. All tanned with a big wide smile as always. I don't know what's with this lady but somehow, she just makes me feel relaxed and happy all the time. She is a very positive person for sure. One of the things she brought with her from her trip was this artsy white piece of paper that looked like it was missing other pieces. Apparently, she asked the BC ferry if they could tell her the website where to get the template from and right away, the lady showed her a short demo and gave the sample to her. It's actually a piece of 6 parts to make a snowflake and isn't it a  coincidence that on our class today, the topic has something to do with snowflakes! I was really getting anxious about the other part so I finally started cutting out colored pieces of 8.5 x 11 inches of papers into squares and there it was, our first Christmas decoration at work.

Did I get your attention yet? So I thought for you guys out there who are feeling bored and crafty, I will make a small demo on how to make Maddi's snowflake: All you need is a pair of scissors, glue or scotch tape or stapler and 6 pieces of 8 x 8 or any square kind of paper you can think of.

1. Fold the paper in half to make a triangle as shown.

2. Fold again to make a triangular shape.

3. Place the paper so the opening faces towards you and start cutting from that side three times leaving half an inch uncut on the opposite side.

4. And this is how it should look like after all the folding and cutting.

5. And these if you unfold it.

6. Connect the points of the center by pasting or taping them. Flip then connect the points of the next one. Do the same procedure: flip and connect the points until all of the corners are connected.
Note: I did this to the left overs of the 8.5 x11 which is 3x3 inches and guess what? It wasn't easy to get them together unless you have long fingers like mine.
7. Here's how it should look like. Pretty neat huh but can you understand why I thought it was missing something. So make up six of these then you are all set to connect those ends to make a pretty snow flake like the one below.....

By the way, that's my vintagy Christmas CD I was playing on the background while crafting @ the office:).
Enjoy!
