Good morning Thursday! Time flies! Christmas is here and after tomorrow, it's all over. It seems like everything happened in a flash. Are you enjoying it so far? You'd better because no matter what, I still do. Now that we have the Cristmas tree up in our living room (pictures to follow...) where I always wanted it and some decors lighting up our Christmas spirits, all that's left is just one night and a day. So might as well make the most of every minute of it. Everytime Christmas comes near, I can't help but go back in time and ponder all the memories of the good ol' times with family in the Philippines: the family traditions that we used to do like caroling; going to evening mass at 4 AM from the 15th of December till Christmas eve; being part of the choir at our town's biggest church; although the part I love most was listening to some seniors' voices belting out "Kirie Eleyson" like it gives them a chance of a lifetime to sing out loud and the smell of lots of goodies outside along the pathway of the church; walking home with my brothers and my only sister shivering in the cold weather with some friends and "bibingka" in our hands to enjoy with our coffee later; and around this time, I would be wrapping all the gifts before everyone comes back from the Christmas eve mass and make sure that our "nilaga" is hot enough to enjoy with everyone! I could have been called the Santa back then and for those who are not so familiar with our Christmas traditions at home, we used to make this kind of soup called "nilaga" to enjoy every after evening mass as part of our late dinner. My grandma on the other hand would have "kalamay" going on her giant pan with the smell of coconut all over her house as part of our dessert and snacks. Christmas day is when we get the chance to visit our relatives and very close friends. My "JAWLINE" friends from high school have this tradition of visiting one's house after the other until we get stuff with so much food and boy can we eat!
Those were the days and right now, I do feel like I am still part of that tradition. Right at this moment, it would be Christmas eve around 12:30 am in the Philippines and I would like to get this out there and hope my brother Danny would show it to the whole family and to all my JAWLINE friends who are back home and overseas. That no matter how many miles apart we are from each other, my Christmas spirit is with you every minute of the day. Sorry honey ko, we will have to do another post for our Christmas here in Canada... MALIGAYANG PASKO AT MANIGONG BAGONG TAON and to all my good friends in Argentina, FELIZ NAVIDAD!!!
